Keep the whole frame
The photo appears at 1200 × 900 inside a 1200 × 1200 canvas. You choose the color or transparency in the unused space.
Set an exact pixel size, scale by percentage, or fit a photo inside a fixed canvas. See the output before you keep it. The original never changes.
Open the resize workspace ↗Same scene. A different number of pixels.
Upload once, adjust the dimensions and framing, then inspect the exported copy.
Fit shows the entire photo. Fill may crop the sides. Stretch changes the shape of objects.

Suppose your source is 4000 × 3000 px. Set the width to 1600 px with proportions locked. The height becomes 1200 px, preserving the 4:3 shape. If a layout asks for a 1200 × 1200 square instead, there are two honest choices:
The photo appears at 1200 × 900 inside a 1200 × 1200 canvas. You choose the color or transparency in the unused space.
The image fills the square and the sides are cut. Check that no face, product handle, or important context disappears.
A single “perfect size” does not exist. Use the actual requirements of the website, email, or marketplace where the image will appear.
People, product shapes, architecture, and text look wrong when width and height are changed independently. Leave proportions locked unless an intentionally stretched effect is the goal.
A percentage is useful when you want the same proportional reduction across several photos. At 50%, each side has half as many pixels; the total pixel count falls to one quarter.
Increasing 600 × 400 to 2400 × 1600 creates a larger grid, not new photographic detail. Look at hair, lettering, and fine product edges before treating a larger export as a sharper image.
JPG cannot preserve transparent pixels, so transparent areas turn white. PNG keeps them. WebP can preserve transparency and may be smaller, but check whether the destination accepts it.
Resize and export happen on your device. This page does not send your photo to a processing service. The editor accepts source images up to 10 MB and 40 megapixels; output is limited to 6000 px per side and 24 million pixels to reduce browser memory failures.
Close the tab or choose another image whenever you want. Downloaded copies remain under your control.
No. Compression and format affect the file size. Compare the final MB value shown below the exported preview.
Enter the square dimensions and choose Fit to keep the full photo with space around it, or Fill to trim the excess. For a hand-picked composition, use Crop Image first.
Canvas exports create a new pixel image and generally do not carry the source file's camera metadata. Keep the original if you need its EXIF data.
Resizing changes dimensions, not focus or missing detail. A high quality original is still the best starting point.
